Finance
Report:
- Chris
Hipp reported that giving was downs about 10% in the second quarter and
expenses were even.
- Chris
Hipp presented the Finance committee recommendation that all asset and capital
purchases over $250.00 and having a life expectancy of over 1 year should be
considered as capital purchases which require approval of the Trustees. The
Motion was seconded by Terry Bellanca
and passed unanimously.
- Chris
requested assistance for counters and posters for August.
The
Christian Education summer program will provide a “Kidzone “format over the
summer.
Regina
Truitt reported for the UMW that approval timing for events has remained
troublesome. They requested a 2 week
response time for all event request approvals. After discussion, since the Mission Commission
normally meets monthly, the 2 week response would not be feasible. It was recommended that any long range events
be submitted early and any emergency requests would be expedited.
ACE summer
classes will be a six week program based on the “Faith Links” material running
from July 14 to August 14.
The Gift
and Talent survey information has been used by the “Worship” and “Youth” teams
to share needs and opportunities individual who responded to those areas of the
survey.
Pastor Larry Baird Reported:
- That the
upcoming 50 and 150 year anniversaries need leaders, historian and celebration
teams.
-
Attendance is showing a positive trend. Each of the 3 services has specific
appeal and will continue. We have many
aging members who need continuing attention but also have seen that we are
attracting and retaining new families.
-We must
continue to look at how we can attract new people. We should consider events like Fellowship
dinners or similar events focused on young families. Possibly “dates nights” or Potluck dinners.
The youth
are relocating the church garden near Historic Trinity, It is intended to
provide opportunities for all ages to share time and experience.
- The Bi-annual Confirmation class
will start this fall for ages 12-13 and in 7-8 grades.
- The fall Christian Education
program will add one SS class at 9 am.
- The SPRC is working with Mark Von
Wald toward his entering into ordained ministry. Mark will be recommended to the conference at
the next church charge conference.
- Donna Lavalle was approved as a
temporary SPRC member as moved by Tom Burkman and seconded by John Harbison.
- The “Worship” team lead by Paul
Sipson had its initial meeting. Sub
teams from the gift and talent survey have been established and ongoing
meetings are occurring.
Next church council meeting is scheduled for August 19, 2013
at 7pm. The meeting was closed with a prayer and adjourned by Charlie Yund.
Respectfully submitted,
Charlie Yund
